Welcome to Commandeer It! Here I will do daily strategy tips for commanders for the Magic: The Gathering format, Commander! (As well as other card reviews that aren't simply commanders.) Since this is the first of hopefully many posts, let's start with the guy I used as my first general, Grimgrin, Corpse-Born.
This guy is amazing. A 5/5 for 5 is already pretty decent, not to mention he is a Zombie Warrior.
Next, a quick graveyard hate combo I was thinking on. After this will be sacbait for Grimgrin. So, hear me out. Cipher is a cool mechanic, especially since quite a few of them have really good effects. The Cipher card in mind here is Midnight Recovery. The other combo pieces are Crypt Creeper and Rooftop Storm. (Well, actually, if you're playing a deck with zombies in it and aren't using Rooftop Storm, you're doing it wrong.) See where I'm going with this? Cipher Midnight Recovery onto a flyer or just anything that fits the situation you're in, and keep going nutters destroying other graveyard based decks, like reanimator or dredge.
Finally, we have our sacbait. SACBAIT, HOO-HA-HA!
First up, the classic Gravecrawler. He was made to be sent to the slaughter house, then rebuild himself, like those Hippo Tokens that Pheldagriff makes. Oh, hey, tomorrow's review topic just came up.
Another obvious sacbait is anything of your opponents. A good way to get things of your opponent's in Blue/Black is Ashen Powder, or, if you can get ahold of some more Blue or Black allies, Agadeem Occultist.
Well, friends, I'm sorry this was too in depth, but I am new to this, so hopefully they'll get bigger and better.
